A Client’s Final Acquittal After Nearly 25 Years of Legal Battle – Another Victory for Khanzadyan Lewandowski & Partners

There are moments in a lawyer’s work that make you realize why this profession is worth pursuing. One of those moments was securing the acquittal of a person who, sentenced to life imprisonment, had spent nearly 25 years fighting for their innocence. Thanks to our intervention, one of the most mysterious cases in recent decades – the shooting at the “Tartak” Pub in Nowy Dwór (Nowy Dwór) in 2000 – ended with our client’s final acquittal.

Our client went through nearly everything that can happen in a criminal trial: from changing witness testimonies to a life sentence, acquittal, and re-conviction. The main evidence used to incriminate the accused was a witness who identified the defendant in dim, smoky conditions.

In a final decision by the Court of Appeal in Warsaw, our client, represented by, among others, our law firm’s managing partner, advocate Dr. Bartosz Lewandowski, was ultimately cleared of double homicide.

The proceedings, which had been ongoing since the early 2000s, were extremely complex in terms of evidence. Thanks to the effective actions of advocate Bartosz Lewandowski, working in collaboration with other defense attorneys, the court determined that the evidence collected did not justify attributing any responsibility to the client, and adding any new, previously unknown sources of evidence was impossible.

At Khanzadyan Lewandowski & Partners, we face the toughest challenges and hardest cases—when human life and freedom are on the line, we fight until the end.
